Logitech MK270 Review: A cheap Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo

Logitech MK270 Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo – Keyboard and Mouse Included, Long Battery Life

Are you looking for a wireless keyboard and mouse, a cheap and efficient combo? As often, Logitech has something that might interest you. The Combo Logitech MK270 is presented as a cheap, efficient, and above all versatile set. The two devices can be used for office automation as well as for multimedia.

This product has been on the market for some time now, and it is clearly successful. The low price has a lot to do with it, but you only have to read the reviews to realize that people are generally happy with their purchase. I tell you everything you need to know about the Logitech MK270 Combo, in this substantiated test.

In short about Logitech MK270

Inexpensive, comprehensive, and efficient! This Logitech Combo MK270 is perfect if you want a low-cost, high-performance keyboard-mouse set. The keyboard is versatile, it offers good typing and a few practical shortcut keys for multimedia management. It’s a very classic combo, but it does the job well and feels durable.

Satisfactory build quality

I will quickly go over the design since it is really a very classic product. The keyboard stands out more for its simplicity than for its originality. It’s all black plastic, and there’s really no flirtatiousness to report. Logitech has gone to the essentials for this entry-level product.

The plastic is very lightly textured, for a nice touch without being as soft as that of a Logitech K360. There is a traditional numeric keypad. If you are looking for a touchpad, you will have to turn to a Microsoft All In One Media instead.

On the back of the keyboard, there is the location for the batteries. Two AAA batteries will need to be inserted to operate the keyboard and one AA battery will be required for the mouse. Still below, two small crutches allow us to tilt the keyboard slightly if necessary. If left flat, rubber pads provide good stability on a smooth surface.

Overall the build quality is decent. This is the entry-level from Logitech, the assembly is serious. For the price, you can hardly ask for more.

Classic Ergonomics

It is a versatile keyboard, which is clearly oriented towards multimedia use. On the top of the keyboard, there are 8 gray keys which are pre-recorded shortcuts. In one touch, we will be able to access the messaging, open the video player or the audio player, control the playback, and also the sound.

It’s both simple and effective, you understand how it works very quickly. For the rest, it’s very classic. We still note the presence of a switch button to turn off or turn on the keyboard completely. This will save the batteries.

On the mouse side, there is nothing to say. It is ambidextrous, with 2 buttons plus the dial. Here again, it is difficult to do more classics. This is the basic mouse from the Swiss manufacturer.

The comfort of use and typing

In use, neither good nor bad surprise. Everything is working fine. The membrane keyboard responds well, the keys have a good bounce. Obviously, we do not find the silence and discretion, let alone the backlighting of a Logitech Illuminated Living-Room K830 keyboard, which is much more expensive.

Note that the letters and numbers written on the keys are quite small. It may not be ideal for people with some vision problems.

Anyway, we have already seen much worse in terms of typing quality, and we can easily type long enough texts, without this being a problem. For the mouse, it is quite small, larger hands may have some difficulty handling it comfortably.

Logitech MK270 Software

We follow the instructions and download the compatible software. The latter does not allow a very important configuration. However, we can allocate shortcut keys, our favorite audio player, the browser we use most of the software to watch movies.

The most appreciable point is that we can check the battery level of our keyboard. A gauge appears at the top right of the software screen. However, there is nothing for the mouse, too bad. It’s really basic, but it’s easy to use.

A good wireless connection

The wireless connection is made using a small receiver dongle, which operates on a 2.4 GHz frequency. This technology has already been proven, so there is no particular problem. You can connect this keyboard-mouse combo to a computer, but also to some TVs or internet boxes. We note that this Logitech MK270 does not use the Unifying receiver, and is therefore not compatible with other products of the Swiss brand.

Either way, the connection is quite effective. However, it is better to connect the receiver to the front of a computer, rather than the back, especially if the PC is large with a metal casing. Personally, I didn’t encounter any issues, the responsiveness was as good as with a wired keyboard.

Conclusion: My review of the Logitech Combo MK270 wireless keyboard

At that price, I wasn’t expecting anything in particular, and that’s what I got. It’s still serious material, with a versatile keyboard that allows us a pleasant multimedia use thanks to its few shortcuts. The typing is good, and therefore you can use the keyboard in office automation without the slightest problem, even if you want to write an important report or a novel.

For the rest, the build quality is correct and the ergonomics very classic. The mouse is small, perhaps a bit too much for larger hands. Everything works very well, however, with good responsiveness and a connection that does not fail.

We can hope for lasting operation since Logitech guarantees its equipment for 3 years. Rather, this is excellent news for a product of this price, and it is necessarily reassuring. So there is no reason to get carried away for this Logitech MK270 combo, but no reason to run away either. If you’re looking for a cheap, high-performance, wireless keyboard-mouse set, then go for it, you won’t regret this purchase.
